Las Vegas Offers Unique Twist on Traditional Wedding Venues

LAS VEGAS – When people hear “Las Vegas wedding,” thoughts of Elvis and drive-thru ceremonies inevitably follow.  But this is one city where the wedding ceremony options are as spectacularly varied as they are romantically imaginative.

For couples wishing to be married in an atmosphere of romance in an intimate outdoor setting, Bellagio offers Terrazza di Sogno (Terrace of Dreams).  Taking place on an Italian balcony with marble flooring and golden-hued walls, Terrazza di Sogno is available for couples wanting the perfect outdoor wedding.Couples overlook stunning views of a Tuscan landscape and a Mediterranean-blue lake with the Fountains of Bellagio soaring to the sky at the moment of the long-awaited first kiss.

Taking the plunge into wedding bliss is more exciting when pirates and sirens are involved. Treasure Island’s (TI) icon, the pirate show, has been re-imagined as The Sirens of TI.  The show is an exhilarating clash between a group of beautiful, tempting sirens and a band of renegade pirates.  The production is a new twist on exchanging wedding vows.  The ceremony takes place on the Song, the Sirens’ ship located in Sirens' Cove.  The minister, dressed in buccaneer attire, escorts the blushing bride and groom onto the ship to exchange vows.  On cue, the couple may choose to have a pirate swing down from the crow’s nest to hand over the wedding rings.  Nearby, family and friends watch from a VIP section.  The Enchantment Wedding Package begins at $2,500 and is reserved through The Wedding Chapel at TI. From pirates to royalty, playing dress up is a fun alternative at Excalibur Hotel and Casino.  The bride and groom can choose from an assortment of costumes including king and queen, prince and princess or knight and lady.

The costumes are similar to authentic dress of the 16th century and are accessorized with tiaras, crowns and swords.  Not to exclude the wedding party, family and friends are encouraged to dress as the royal court.  The wedding would not be complete without a Merlin-like minister speaking in a mystical tone of voice.  Medieval-themed weddings are common at the Canterbury Wedding Chapel.  The chapel offers six different wedding packages starting from $365.  All costumes are available to rent for an additional fee.

Many resorts have added an elegant twist to the traditional wedding.  Mandalay Bay’s THEwedding Chapel is designed with understated elegance and offers enchanting views of the tropically landscaped Mandalay Bay Beach.  The wedding packages at MGM Grand, such as the Classic Elegance, include a day of pampering in the world-renowned Cristophe Salon and the Terraza offers an outdoor, semi-private ceremony. Guests can receive evites and send personalized messages to the bride and groom.

Sometimes family and friends are too far away to attend the glorious day.
